Dr Paul Cotterill specializes in follicular unit grafting and can transplant up to 8,000 – 10,000 hairs, in varying sizes of follicular unit grafts. Once Dr Paul Cotterill has personally marked and made all the sites, two Registered nurses and two hair transplant technicians dissect the donor strip using stereoscopic microscopes and assist in planting the grafts, once Dr Cotterill has personally made all the sites. Follicular unit grafts are commonly removed as a single strip from the back of the scalp and the wound is then sutured closed using the latest technique (Trichophytic Closure) or, when appropriate, as individual follicular unit grafts, removed one at a time, called Follicular Unit Excision (FUE).
Hair Transplant Services

-
Male hair transplant: If you want to restore your hair density like it used to be, a male hair transplant is the perfect solution. In the procedure, our team at Dr. Paul Cotterill surgically moves individual hair follicles from one area of the body to where your hair is getting thin.
-
Female hair transplant: If you are experiencing severe hair loss, a female hair transplant can benefit you in many ways, such as by reducing the appearance of bald spots and encouraging the growth of new hair.
-
Transgender hair transplants: Transgender hair transplants can allow transgender individuals to achieve the desired hairline. Dr Paul Cotterill will give you a rounded and feminine hairline that fills the temporal recessions and provides a feminine appearance.
-
Eyebrow transplant: If you have thin or missing eyebrows, an Eyebrow transplant can reposition your brows. Our experts will source the matching hair follicles above your ears and transfer them to your eyebrows.

Non Surgical Hair Loss Treatment

-
PRP therapy: Meant for both men and women, Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) therapy uses stimulation of the hair follicles to encourage hair growth. In other words, this therapy uses the patient's growth factor.
-
Pharmaceutical medications: If one isn't interested in hair transplant surgery or due to the hair scalp condition, one couldn't go for any therapy; pharmaceutical medications like Finasteride and Minoxidil can help. These two chemical compound works by acting as a DHT blocker (a male hormone that causes hair loss), inhibiting the effects of DHT on the follicles.

He performs only one hair transplant procedure at a time to ensure each patient gets the attention they deserve. Dr Paul Cotterill believes a patient's peace of mind is of paramount importance, which is why all surgical portions of the procedure are performed by him - from designing the hairline to the removal of all donor grafts, to personally creating each individual recipient graft site.
Please read the Important Consumer Alert put out by the International Society of Hair Restoration Surgery about the use of non-physicians performing some or part of the surgery and the improper use of physicians delegating crucial parts of the hair transplant surgery to non-physician personnel. The Causes of Hair Loss
Hair loss can be caused by hormonal changes, medical conditions, and stress. Some of the common reasons for hair loss in men and women are:
-
Heredity: One of the most common causes of baldness is often rooted in family history and genetics. Hereditary hair loss and balding occur in predictable patterns, with receding hairline and thinning hair along with the crown of the scalp.
-
Hormonal changes and medical conditions: Conditions such as hormonal changes due to menopause or thyroid problems can also lead to hair loss. For women, it can also be caused by factors such as pregnancy and childbirth.
-
Hairstyles and treatments: Excessive hair styling, traction or pulling of the hair, can cause hair loss.
-
Medications and supplements: If you have been taking medications for cancer, arthritis, depression, heart problems and high blood pressure, this can also lead to hair loss.
-
Radiation therapy: Radiation therapy can cause temporary or permanent hair loss on the part of the body that is being treated.
-
Stress: Physical or emotional shock can also contribute to excessive loss of hair. Please visit our blog to learn more information about how stress can affect hair loss.

Why Board Certification Matters
The general public is usually unaware that only a person with a medical license can legally perform hair restoration surgery. As a result, the surgical, aesthetic skill level and precision of a physician offering to perform hair transplant can vary notably. Although genetic hair loss is common and usually easy to diagnose, it is pivotal that your physician comprehends the causes of hair loss and is properly trained to diagnose and treat other causes of scalp hair loss. The American Board of Hair Restoration Surgery (ABHRS) is the only recognized certification by the International Society of Hair Restoration Surgery and the European Society of Hair Restoration Surgery. Dr Paul Cotterill is board certified by the American Board of Hair Restoration Surgery.
