Are you concerned about your increasing hair loss and feel that balding is inevitable? Well, it’s not. The truth is that today a variety of medical treatments are available that not only stop further hair loss but also fill into thinning areas and increase your hairline or cover that balding crown. Dr. Cotterill is dedicated to providing natural-looking, permanent hair transplant results to everyone. With over 30 years of experience, Dr. Cotterill is an acknowledged leader in the hair restoration industry. He utilizes the latest technologies in hair transplants and hair loss treatments, which makes him the preferred hair specialist in Toronto. He always sees each patient in consultation and spends as much time as needed to assess your hair loss and explain your treatment options.
If you are choosing Dr. Cotterill as your hair doctor in Toronto, you will not get a salesperson pitching you a transplant. You will have a one-on-one meeting with Dr. Cotterill. He performs only one hair transplant procedure at a time to ensure each patient gets the attention they deserve. Dr. Cotterill believes a patient's peace-of-mind is of paramount importance, that’s why all surgical portions of the procedure are performed by him - from designing the hairline, removal of all donor grafts, to personally creating each individual recipient graft site.
Please read the Important Consumer Alert put out by the International Society of Hair Restoration Surgery about the use of non-physicians performing some or part of the surgery and the improper use of physicians delegating crucial parts of the hair transplant surgery to non-physician personnel.
Dr. Cotterill specializes in follicular unit grafting and can transplant up to 8,000 – 10,000 hairs, in varying sizes of follicular unit grafts. Two Registered nurses and 2 hair transplant technicians dissect the donor strip using stereoscopic microscopes and assist at planting the grafts, once Dr. Cotterill has personally made all the sites. Follicular unit grafts are commonly removed as a single strip from the back of the scalp and the wound is then sutured closed using the latest technique (Trichophytic Closure) or, when appropriate, as individual follicular unit grafts, removed one at a time, called Follicular Unit Extraction, (FUE).

Usually, the general public is not aware that only a person with a medical license can legally perform hair restoration surgery. As a result, the surgical, aesthetic skill level and precision of a physician offering to perform hair transplant surgery can vary notably. Although genetic hair loss is common and usually easy to diagnose, it is pivotal that your physician comprehends the causes of hair loss and is properly trained to diagnose and treat other causes of scalp hair loss.
