About Dr. Cotterill

Dr. Paul Cotterill has a private practice in Toronto, Canada, as well as having an office in Manhattan to see patients for consultation. After receiving his Bachelor of Science from Mcgill University and later his degree in medicine from the University of Toronto and completing two years of surgical residency he trained with Dr. Walter Unger in a medical practice limited entirely to hair restoration and transplantation in both men and women. Dr. Cotterill has been practicing hair restoration for over 20 years.

Dr. Cotterill is the immediate past president of The International Society of Hair restoration Surgery (ISHRS), as well as being Chair of the ISHRS Continuing Medical Education Committee. Dr. Cotterill is a past Program Chair of the ISHRS Annual Meeting that was held in Washington, D. C. in 1998.

Dr. Cotterill is a diplomate of The American Board of Hair Restoration Surgery and serves on the board of The International Society of Hair Restoration Surgery, and The American Board of Hair Restoration Society. He is also a founding member of The Canadian Society of Hair Restoration Surgery.

Dr. Cotterill has lectured internationally on hair transplantation. He is the author of numerous articles published in many diverse medical journals, as well as having authored a chapter entitled Hair Transplantation in Women in the foremost medical reference textbook Hair Transplantation, 3rd Edition. Dr. Cotterill has appeared on many radio and television programs including The Dini Petty Show and The Life Channel,and Breakfast Television.

In addition to his hair transplan practice and being a clinical teacher for the University of Toronto – Department of Dermatology, Dr. Cotterill has been an investigator for The Upjohn and Merck pharmaceutical companies on drugs aimed at slowing down or reversing male pattern baldness. Currently he is investigating (Propecia) Finasteride, through the University of Toronto and Merck Frosst Corporation, and it’s effects on male pattern baldness.
